What does Whitby have to offer?

Whitby is famous for its long golden beaches and its quaint cobbled streets surrounding the busy working harbour, from the 199 steps that lead to St Marys church and the Abbey ruins that were the inspiration for Bram Stokers Dracula down to the pleasant marina and river side walks, Whitby has it all.
Over on the West Cliff stands a statue of Captain Cook which overlooks an arch of real Whalebones, recalling the father & son Whaling Masters of the Scoresby Family.
Close by are the delightful fishing hamlets of Robin Hoods Bay to the south Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes to the north. Linking them together, is a waymarked long distance footpath ‘the Cleveland Way’ which is a joy to walk along with its rich wildlife, geology and dramatically plunging coastline. Surrounding all of this is the North Yorkshire moors national park a protected area of woods, forests, monks trods and spectacular scenery.
